My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance (often shortened to MCR) is an American alternative rock band that formed in 2001. The current members of the band are Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Frank Iero, Bob Bryar and Mikey Way.Shortly after forming, the band signed to Eyeball Records and released their debut album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love in 2002. They signed with Reprise Records the next year and released their major label debut Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in 2004. The album was a major commercial success, selling over two million copies due in part to the success of the singles "Helena", "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)", and "The Ghost of You". The band followed this success with 2006's The Black Parade, featuring their biggest hit "Welcome to the Black Parade". While the band identifies their sound as simply "rock", the subgenre of the band's recordings has been a subject of debate among fans and the media.

Musical style and influences
My Chemical Romance's music has been described by the media as "pop punk", "emo", "alternative rock", "post-hardcore" and "punk revival". The band themselves described their music as simply "rock" or "violent, dangerous pop" on their official website, as well as rejecting the term "emo" to describe their style, though another source quotes frontman Way stating that they are "What-else-ya-got-emo". Frontman Gerard Way has recently stated in an interview that they were never Emo, as he says emo is "a pile of shit"
My Chemical Romance cite their main influences as Queen, Thursday, Iron Maiden, The Misfits, Morrissey/The Smiths and the Beastie Boys. Gerard Way has said, "We love bands like Queen, where it's huge and majestic, but also bands like Black Flag and the Misfits, who would go absolutely crazy." Way has also said that his band patterns their career after that of The Smashing Pumpkins, another band they admire. Geoff Rickly, the lead singer of Thursday, has compared My Chemical Romance to Ink & Dagger. Growing up, they were also very influenced by horror films and comic books, and therefore their music, lyrics, and image all have overt elements of fantasy, storytelling, horror, and theatricality.
The band's name "My Chemical Romance" is taken from the line: 'Ectasy-Three Tales Of Chemical Romance' from the Irvine Welsh novels Trainspotting (later made into the successful UK film of the same name) and its sequel Porno, which allude to the use of drugs (in particular, heroin) as providing a "chemical romance".

Fergie (Stacy Ann Ferguson)

Stacy Ann Ferguson (born March 27, 1975), better known by her stage name Fergie, is an American pop, hip hop, and R&B singer, songwriter, and actress. She is a former member of the kids' television series Kids Incorporated, and the girl group Wild Orchid. Ferguson was also a co-host of the television show Great Pretenders. She is currently a vocalist for the hip hop/pop group the Black Eyed Peas, as well as a solo artist, releasing her debut album, The Dutchess, in 2006. The album has so far spawned three U.S. Hot 100 number ones, making Ferguson the first female solo artist to have three number ones from the same album since Christina Aguilera did with her 2000 debut.

Early life
Ferguson was born in Hacienda Heights, California to Terri Gore and Patrick Ferguson. She has one sister, Dana, who is an actress. Her parents were Catholic and worked as schoolteachers, and Ferguson had a strict Catholic upbringing. During her youth, she was involved with members of the Mexican gangs in Hacienda Heights, California. Ferguson attended Glen A. Wilson High School. She was also a Girl Scout.

Music career
Ferguson was a member of the female trio Wild Orchid, which she fronted with Stefanie Ridel and fellow Kids Incorporated star Renee Sandstrom. Wild Orchid released two albums, but after completing a third album, their record label declined to release it, and she left the group shortly thereafter. Her disappointment with Wild Orchid led to an addiction to crystal methamphetamine. In September 2006, Ferguson talked with Time about quitting her crystal meth addiction. "It was the hardest boyfriend I ever had to break up with," she says. "It's the drug that's addicting. But it's why you start doing it in the first place that's interesting. A lot of it was being a child actor; I learned to suppress feelings."

In 2003, Ferguson took over the lead female vocal duties for the Black Eyed Peas, replacing background singer Kim Hill, who had left the group in 2000. Ferguson recorded five songs with the group before she was invited to join them permanently. Ferguson's addition to the band, which had enjoyed underground success until then, helped them quickly grow into mainstream popularity.

After two successful Black Eyed Peas albums, Ferguson began pursuing a solo career. Her first album, released on September 19, 2006, was entitled The Dutchess. The album's name is a misspelled variant of the former title of Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, with whom Ferguson shares a surname and popular nickname. The solo deal does not mean the demise of the Black Eyed Peas, as Ferguson intends to remain with the group, alternating between the two duties. The Dutchess is similar in style to that of the Black Eyed Peas, as fellow Peas member will.i.am is the album's executive producer. Ferguson has had four hit songs from The Dutchess, with "London Bridge", "Glamorous", and "Big Girls Don't Cry" becoming number one singles. Her second single, "Fergalicious", peaked at #2. "London Bridge" reached #2 on the United World Chart, while "Fergalicious" and "Glamorous" both made it to #4. "Big Girls Don't Cry" became Ferguson's first worldwide #1 single, and is her most successful single to date. "Clumsy" has been announced as the fifth single from The Dutchess due to the major success of "Big Girls Don't Cry", and has been set to be released on September 25 in the US.

In 2005, Ferguson inadvertently urinated on stage during a performance at San Diego's Street Scene festival. Ferguson later commented on the incident: "I had a few drinks before the show, but I didn't think to go to the bathroom before we went onstage. We were jumping around...and my bladder just started."

Personal life
Since February 2007, Ferguson has been dating actor Josh Duhamel, who stars in the television show Las Vegas. She appeared in the series in an episode titled "Montecito Lancers".
In April 2007, she gave an interview in which she admitted that she went on a sex and drugs spree when she turned 18, saying: "I have had lesbian experiences in the past. I won't say how many men I've had sex with - but I am a very sexual person."
Ferguson was featured on Maxim's Hot 100 Women of 2006, and voted in at position #36. In 2007, she was voted at #10.

José Mourinho! The Special One!!

José Mário dos Santos Mourinho Félix, commonly known as José Mourinho, GOIH (born 26 January 1963 in Setúbal) is a Portuguese football manager. Currently he is not managing any club after leaving Chelsea on 20 September 2007.
Mourinho won four consecutive league titles (two at Porto and two at Chelsea) and also the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Cup with Porto. For two consecutive years (2004 and 2005), Mourinho was named the world's best football coach by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). He has at times been a controversial figure.
Mourinho moved to Chelsea in June 2004 becoming one of the highest paid managers in football with a salary of £4.2 million a year, subsequently raised in 2005 to £5.2 million.

In a press conference upon joining the English side, Mourinho said, "Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European champion and I think I'm a special one", which resulted in the media dubbing him "The Special One".

Chelsea
Mourinho recruited his backroom staff from Porto, consisting of assistant manager Baltemar Brito, fitness coach Rui Faria, chief scout Andre Villas and goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro. He retained the services of Steve Clarke, a long-serving former player at Chelsea and who had also performed an assistant managerial-type job under previous managers at the club. In terms of spending, Mourinho carried on where his predecessor Claudio Ranieri left off, and spent in excess of £70m on stars such as Tiago Mendes (£10million) from Benfica, Didier Drogba (£24million) from Olympique Marseille, Mateja Kezman (£5.4million) from PSV Eindhoven and FC Porto pair Ricardo Carvalho (£19.8million) and Paulo Ferreira (£13.3million).

Under Mourinho, Chelsea built on the potential developed in the previous season. By early December, they were at the top of the Premiership table and reached the knock-out stages of the Champions League. On 27 February 2005, Mourinho led Chelsea to the League Cup trophy in Cardiff, Wales, beating Liverpool 3-2 after extra time. Towards the end of the match, Mourinho was escorted from the touchline for allegedly inciting Liverpool fans following Chelsea's equaliser. On 30 April 2005, Chelsea secured the club's first top-flight domestic title in 50 years with a 2-0 victory against Bolton. However, he failed to achieve back-to-back Champions League successes when Chelsea were knocked out of the competition by a controversial goal, three days later in the semi-finals by eventual winners Liverpool.

On 31 March 2005 Mourinho was handed a two-match suspension and a fine by UEFA for bringing the game into disrepute after he had criticised referee Anders Frisk following a Champions League tie against FC Barcelona. He argued that a member of his staff saw Frisk talking with Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard at half-time in breach of the rules and that the apparent bias of the referee prompted him to send Drogba off when Chelsea were leading 1-0.Frisk subsequently retired when he came under threats to his life after the match. As it was later revealed, Rijkaard had tried to converse with Frisk at half-time - the referee's own match report mentioned the incident - but that Frisk sent him away. The episode led the UEFA referee's chief, Volker Roth, to describe the manager as an "enemy of football," although UEFA distanced themselves from the comment.
On 2 June 2005, he was fined £200,000 for his part in the meeting with Arsenal full-back Ashley Cole in January 2005 in breach of the Premier League rules. In August 2005 his fine was reduced to £75,000 after a hearing. In late 2005, Mourinho labelled Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger a 'voyeur' after being irked at what he saw as the latter's apparent obsession with Chelsea. The episode eventually died down and the two have since made peace.

After topping the Premier League for most of the 2005-2006 season, Chelsea beat rivals Manchester United 3-0 on April 29 to win their second consecutive Premiership title and Mourinho's fourth domestic title in a row. After the presentation of his championship medal, Mourinho went to the Matthew Harding end of Stamford Bridge and threw his medal and blazer into the crowd. He was awarded a second medal within minutes and he threw that into the crowd, too. He stated that because the medal was exactly the same as the one he had received a year earlier, he did not need another and wanted to reward the crowd for their support. The items were promptly listed on eBay.
After a league match with Everton on December 17, 2006, Mourinho branded Andrew Johnson "untrustworthy" following a challenge with Chelsea keeper Hilário. Everton issued a statement threatening legal action and calling on Mourinho to apologise, which he later did.
On 13 January 2006, The Straits Times reported that Mourinho intended to leave Chelsea at the end of the 2006-7 season, due to disappointment with the team's performance and a power struggle with Frank Arnesen. Mourinho later cleared doubts regarding his future at Stamford Bridge, stating that there would only be two ways for him to leave Chelsea: if Chelsea were not to offer him a new contract in June 2010, and if Chelsea were to sack him.

Mourinho won the Carling Cup with Chelsea in February 2007 by defeating Arsenal F.C. in the Football League Cup Final 2007 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Despite losing the Premiership title to Manchester United, Mourinho had his players line up as a guard of honour to applaud United's triumph during their next fixture at Stamford Bridge, returning the favour which Old Trafford had given to Chelsea back in 2005. On May 19, 2007, Mourinho also led Chelsea to their fourth FA Cup victory after defeating Manchester United in the 2007 FA Cup Final, the first to be played at the new Wembley. Mourinho is currently the most successful manager in Chelsea's history having won six trophies for Chelsea in three years.
On 12 August, 2007, Chelsea beat Birmingham 3-2 at Stamford Bridge in their opening match of the 2007-08 season and in the process set a new English record for unbeaten league matches at home. The club's 64 consecutive run beat the record held previously by Liverpool for an unbeaten run between 1978 and 1981. Despite achieving this record, Chelsea's start to the 2007 season was not as successful as previous seasons. The team lost away at Aston Villa and followed this with a goalless draw at home to Blackburn Rovers. Their opening game in the UEFA Champions League saw them only manage a 1-1 home draw against unfancied Norweigan team Rosenborg in front of an almost half-empty stadium.
Mourinho unexpectedly left Chelsea on the 20 September 2007 'by mutual consent' after the Chelsea board held an emergency meeting and decided it was time to part with their manager. Many Chelsea fans were distraught at Mourinho's departure. Later that day Chelsea confirmed that Avram Grant would take over as manager of the team, with Steve Clarke as his assistant.

Portuguese national team
Mourinho has publicly stated that he wishes to run the Portuguese national team at some point in his career. At the match that gave him his second title with Chelsea, Mourinho wore a Portugal scarf and at the press conference said: "It means I am Portuguese. I wouldn't put on the scarf of another country. I can smell, feel in my country, there are still a few rats waiting to celebrate my mistakes. But when I think of the other 10.5 million Portuguese working all over the world I know what I mean to them. I know they are proud of what I am doing."

Andriy Shevchenko

Andriy Mykolayovych Shevchenko (Ukrainian: Андрій Миколайович Шевченко, Andrij Mykolajovyč Ševčenko, born 29 September 1976, Dvirkivschyna, Kiev Oblast) is a Ukrainian football striker who plays for Chelsea in the Premier League.

Shevchenko began his career in the youth team at Dynamo Kyiv and soon played in the first team. He won five consecutive domestic league titles from 1994–99. Shevchenko played for A.C. Milan from 1999–2006, scoring 127 goals in 208 appearances and becoming the club's second-highest all-time goal scorer. He joined Chelsea in 2006.

Shevchenko won the 2004 European Footballer of the Year award, and was named by Pelé as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers in 2004. He was named a starting striker on the 2005 FIFPro World XI team, and is the second-highest goal scorer of all-time in European club competitions with 60 goals, behind only Gerd Müller.

Biography
Andriy was nine when the Chernobyl nuclear disaster occurred in April 1986. His village, not far from Chernobyl, was also affected by the disaster, and his family was one amongst the thousands who had to abandon their homes and relocate to the coast to escape the after effects. At an early age, he was a competitive boxer in the LLWI Ukrainian junior league, but due to his size, he was forced to move on to football, where he flourished.

Personal life
Shevchenko is married to American model Kristen Pazik. The couple met at a Giorgio Armani afterparty in 2002, and married on July 14, 2004 in a private ceremony on a golf course in Washington, DC. They communicate with each other in Italian, though Shevchenko has made public his desire to learn English. Media commentators have speculated that Pazik was a major influence on Shevchenko's decision to sign with Chelsea, citing her friendship with Abramovich's wife and her desire to raise their children in an English-speaking culture. Shevchenko has stated that his move to Chelsea was "a family decision" about what was best for their children.

The couple has two sons, Jordan (named after NBA legend Michael Jordan), born on 29 October 2004, and Christian, born on 10 November 2006. Andriy commemorated Jordan's birth by scoring against Sampdoria the following day (AC Milan won 1-0). AC Milan supremo Silvio Berlusconi is the Godfather of Andriy's first son, Jordan. The day after Christian's birth, Shevchenko scored in a 4-0 Chelsea victory over Watford, and he and several of his teammates gathered and performed the popular "rock-the-baby" goal celebration as a tribute.

Shevchenko is a close friend of fashion designer Giorgio Armani, and has modelled for Armani and opened two boutiques with him in Kyiv.
In June 2005, Shevchenko became an ambassador for the SOS Children's Villages charity.

Name
Shevchenko's first name (Андрій in Ukrainian) does not have a single way of being transliterated from its original spelling in the Cyrillic alphabet into the Latin alphabet. Andriy is the spelling used throughout the player's official web site. It has also been adopted by UEFA and FIFA and is the preferred spelling in most English publications (although Andrii is used by World Soccer magazine and Andrei by Sky Sports). The correct pronunciation is [an.ˈdrij]. Dynamo Kyiv fans gave him the nickname Sheva, a contraction of Shevchenko

Tokio Hotel

Tokio Hotel is a rock band who formed under the name "Devilish" in 2001 in Magdeburg, Germany

-Band history
Identical twins Bill and Tom Kaulitz (born on 1 September 1989) had been making music since childhood. They were musically promoted by their step-father, who is also a musician, although less active. In early 2001, in their hometown of Magdeburg, they met Gustav Schäfer (September 8, 1988) and Georg Listing (March 31, 1987), with whom they formed the band Devilish. From 2001 onwards, they played in talent shows and small-time concerts. After Bill Kaulitz' participation in a children's Star Search in 2003 (which he lost in the quarter-finals), he was discovered by music executive Peter Hoffmann. In the end, Devilish changed their name to Tokio Hotel ("Tokio", the German language spelling of the large and lively city Tokyo, Japan, which they love, and "Hotel", due to their constant touring and sleeping in hotels), and Sony BMG took them under contract. Hoffmann hired David Jost and Pat Benzner into the team of creators and authors, and had them give the children instruction on songwriting and instrument playing. Shortly before publication of the first album, Sony terminated their contract. In 2005, Universal Music Group took Tokio Hotel under contract and developed a marketing plan.

-Career
Their first single, "Durch den Monsun" ("Through the Monsoon"), quickly gained popularity after its release, appearing on the German music charts at #15 on 20 August 2005 and reaching #1 on 26 August 2005; it reached #1 on the Austrian music charts as well. Their second single was "Schrei" ("Scream"), which climbed to #5 on the German charts. They released their debut album, Schrei, on 19 September 2005; the lead singer, Bill Kaulitz, wrote most of the songs. In early 2006, their third single, "Rette Mich" ("Rescue Me"), was released; it reached #1.
Their first single off their latest album "
Zimmer 483" ("Room 483"), called "Übers Ende der Welt" (later released in English under the name "Ready Set Go"), was released on 26 January 2007 and quickly reached #1. The "Zimmer 483" album was released on 28 February 2007. A deluxe edition of the album, containing a DVD, is also available. The Zimmer 483 tour was scheduled to start in March 2007, but was delayed by two weeks because the band members wished to have a new stage. Their second and last single from the album, "Spring Nicht" ("Don't Jump") was released on April 7, 2007. Tokio Hotel has quickly risen to the top of the charts, and their new album is predicted to be a success.
While their German CDs have never received official releases outside the German-speaking world, Tokio Hotel's first English album "Scream" was released on the 4 June 2007 in the rest of Europe. In Germany it was called "Room 483" in order to emphasize the continuity with their last German album "Zimmer 483". The album was originally going to be released in the United States as well but that decision was revoked and the release will now depend on the success of the album in the UK.[citation needed] The album consists of English versions of a selection of songs from their German language albums "Schrei" and "Zimmer 483". "Monsoon" was the first single from the album and is the English version of their very first single "Durch den Monsun". The first single from Zimmer 483, "Übers Ende der Welt" was recently released under the title of "Ready, Set, Go!" in English. A video for "Scream", the English version of their 2005 hit "Schrei", was also recorded.
Jörg Koshorst, A&R for the band at Universal earned the #15 spot in the World Top 100 A&R Chart at
HitQuarters, for signing and introducing Tokio Hotel in numerous countries.Tokio Hotel gave their first concert in the UK on June 19, 2007.

Julia Roberts

Julia Fiona Roberts (born October 28, 1967) is an Academy Award-winning American film actress and former fashion model. She shot to fame during the early 1990s after starring in the romantic comedy, Pretty Woman, opposite Richard Gere. Her career includes films such as Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, and Ocean's Eleven, which have collectively earned box office receipts well over $2 billion. She won the Best Actress Academy Award in 2001 for her critically praised turn as the title character in Erin Brockovich after two previous nominations during the 1990s.

Since then, Roberts has become the highest-paid actress in the world, topping the Hollywood Reporter's annual power list of top-earning female stars for four consecutive years (2002-2005). An unprecedented $25 million was paid to Roberts for her role in 2003's Mona Lisa Smile. As of 2007, Roberts' net worth was estimated around US$140,000,000.
Roberts was also the first actress to appear on the cover of Vogue and the first woman to land on the cover of GQ. She has been named one of People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People in the World" eleven times, tied with Halle Berry. In 2001 Ladies Home Journal ranked her as the 11th most powerful woman in America, beating out then national security advisor Condoleezza Rice and first lady Laura Bush.

Biography

Early life
It is commonly mistaken that Julia's birth name is "Julie"; however, Roberts has said in interviews that "Julie" was a nickname given to her by classmates in elementary school, and she never took well to it. Roberts was born in Smyrna, Georgia. Her father, Walter Grady Roberts, was a vacuum cleaner salesman, and her Minneapolis, Minnesota-born mother, Betty Lou Motes (née Bredemus), was a one-time church secretary and real estate agent. Her parents, one-time actors and playwrights, met while performing theatrical productions for the armed forces and later co-founded the Atlanta Actors and Writers Workshop in Georgia; the two divorced in 1971. Her mother later re-married to Michael Motes and had another daughter, named Nancy Motes who was born in 1976. Roberts' father died of cancer when she was ten. Her older brother and sister, Eric Roberts (from whom she was estranged for a while) and Lisa Roberts Gillan, are also actors. Roberts wanted to be a veterinarian as a child, but soon after graduating from Smyrna's Campbell High School, and after attending Georgia State University, she headed to New York to join her sister Lisa Roberts Gillan and pursue a career in acting. Once there, she signed with the Click modeling agency and enrolled in acting classes. She reverted to her original name "Julia Roberts" when she found that there was already a "Julie Roberts" registered with the Screen Actors Guild.

Her niece Emma Roberts, who she used to take to the sets when she was younger, has joined her father and aunts in the acting business. Recently, she gained a starring role on the Nickelodeon series Unfabulous and has appeared in the films Blow (2001), Aquamarine (2006) and Nancy Drew (2007).

The Rock(Dwayne Douglas Johnson)

Dwayne Douglas Johnson (born May 2, 1972) better known by his ring name The Rock, is an American actor and former professional wrestler. Originally known as Flax Cavana, Johnson first found fame in professional wrestling as Rocky Maivia, gaining mainstream fame as a standout in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). During his professional wrestling career, he has been a nine-time World champion (seven WWF/E Championship and two WCW World Heavyweight Championship reigns.) and was the first and thus far only man to have held the WWE championship on seven seperate occasions.

Early life
Dwayne Johnson was born in Hayward, California to African-Canadian wrestler Rocky Johnson and Ata Maivia. His maternal grandfather was also a professional wrestler; High Chief Peter Maivia Dwayne traveled around a lot with his parents and watched his father perform in the ring. He went to such schools as President William McKinley High School in Hawaii. As he entered 11th grade, Johnson's father's job required his relocation to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in the state's rugged Lehigh Valley region. For Johnson, the Lehigh Valley proved a huge cultural shift from he had known and seen in the San Francisco Bay Area in his early youth. But Johnson welcomed the change and assimilated quickly in the new area. In Bethlehem, Johnson began to cultivate an intense athleticism, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. He began playing football at Bethlehem's Freedom High School, a member of what was then known as the East Penn Conference (recently renamed the Lehigh Valley Conference).[4] The conference was one of the highest quality high school football and wrestling conferences in the United States. In football, the conference has produced a considerable amount of high-level Division I collegiate and NFL football talent.

Known for its blue collar ruggedness, the Lehigh Valley proved a hand-in-glove match for Johnson, who fit in well with the area's street toughness. He had always been rowdy and football allowed him to translate the negative energy he had from fighting and hurting whomever he fought. That toughness carried to his football play, where Johnson began, for the first time, to face high quality players and began to excel amidst the area's extraordinary athletic competitiveness. He would later credit the high level of athletic competitiveness he encountered in the Lehigh Valley with building the foundation for his life-long passion for winning and embracing challenge. In addition to playing football at Freedom High School, he also was a member of the high school's track and field team.

For a brief period Johnson also spent some time living in Auckland, New Zealand with his mother's family, the Maivia, Perese, Schmidt, and Purcell families. During this time his mother Ata ensured Johnson was exposed to one of the urban Polynesian cultural strongholds of the Southern Hemisphere in Auckland. Johnson stayed between Westmere Grey Lynn and West Auckland. As fate would have it, his grandfather and father would end up wrestling extensively in Auckland with American promoter Steve Rickards. Mr. Rickards staged a show and televised program during the late 1970's and early 1980's called "On The Mat", which became a household phenomena for the years it was aired. Many American superstars such as Rick Martel, Harley Race, and Johnson's Grandfather and Father featured on the program weekly. While in New Zealand, Johnson attended Richmond Road Primary School, and was to attend St. Pauls College Catholic School, but returned to the US with his parents. Even at a young age Johnson left his mark on family he has there, and has stayed in touch throughout the years. His family in New Zealand has been publicly vocal in their praise for Johnson.

Personal life
Johnson married Dany Garcia on May 3, 1997, 24 hours after his 25th birthday. Johnson and Garcia originally met when both were students at the University of Miami. Garcia is founder and CEO of a wealth-management firm, JDM Partners, in Miami. His best man at the wedding was fellow wrestler and longtime family friend Tonga "Haku" Fifita. However, on June 1, 2007, Dwayne and his wife Dany, after 10 years together, announced that they would be splitting up. They indicated that their splitting up was on good terms and that they would spend the rest of their lives together as best friends.
He and Garcia have a daughter, Simone Alexandra, who was born August 14, 2001 in Davie, Florida.
In 2000, Johnson delivered a speech at the Republican National Convention.[2] The speech was on behalf of WWF, and did not implicitly endorse the Republican party or their nominee, Governor George W. Bush (although Johnson is a registered Republican).
Because his mother, Ata Maivia, had royal blood, the late Samoan King Malietoa Tanumafili II bestowed Johnson with the noble title Seiuli during his visit to Samoa in July 2004. His connection with Samoa is also signified by his support of the Samoa national rugby union team, as the team's web site shows him holding a personalized Manu Samoa jersey with 'The Rock' emblazoned at the back.
In 2006, Johnson started up The Dwayne Johnson Rock Foundation that is known for its charitable work with at-risk and terminally ill children.
The Rock is also very good friends with Stone Cold Steve Austin outside of the WWE, saying on the WrestleMania XX DVD Extra that he would work with him over anyone else in the wrestling business.

Sting

Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, CBE (born 2 October 1951), universally known by his stage name Sting, is an English musician from Newcastle upon Tyne. Prior to starting his solo career, he was the principal composer, lead singer and bass player of the rock band The Police.

Biography

Early life
Sumner was born in Wallsend, near Newcastle upon Tyne in northeast England, to Audrey Cowell and her husband, Ernest Sumner. He is the eldest of four children and has a brother, Philip, and two sisters, Angela and Anita. His father managed a dairy, and as a boy he would often assist him with the early morning milk delivery rounds. Sumner was raised in the Roman Catholic tradition, due to the influence of his paternal grandmother, who was from an Irish family.

He attended St. Cuthbert's Grammar School in Newcastle upon Tyne, and then the University of Warwick in Coventry, which he left after only one term. During this time, he would often sneak into nightclubs like the Club-A-Go-Go. Here, he would watch acts such as Jack Bruce and Jimi Hendrix who would later influence his music. After jobs as a bus conductor, a construction labourer and a tax officer, he attended Northern Counties Teachers' Training College, which later became part of Northumbria University, from 1971 to 1974. He then worked as a teacher at St. Paul's First School in Cramlington for two years.

From an early age, Sumner knew that he wanted to be a musician. His first music gigs were wherever he could get a job, performing evenings, weekends, and during vacations from college and teaching. He played with local jazz bands such as the Phoenix Jazzmen, the Newcastle Big Band, and Last Exit.

Origin of nickname
Sting has stated that he gained his nickname while with the Phoenix Jazzmen. He once performed wearing a black and yellow jersey with hooped stripes that bandleader Gordon Solomon had noted made him look like a bumblebee; thus Sumner became "Sting." He uses Sting almost exclusively, except on official documents. In a press conference filmed in the movie Bring on the Night, he jokingly stated when referred to by a journalist as Gordon, "My children call me Sting, my mother calls me Sting, who is this Gordon character?"

Romário

Romário de Souza Faria (born January 29, 1966), better known simply as Romário, is a Brazilian legendary football center forward who helped the Brazil national team win the 1994 FIFA World Cup and has been one of the most prolific strikers in the world since the 1990s, having had successful tenures with European clubs PSV Eindhoven and FC Barcelona, and in Brazil with Vasco da Gama. His professional career has extended past age 40, an age by which most professional footballers have retired.

He is the third highest goalscorer in the history of the Brazilian team, as well as the second highest scorer of all time in the Brazilian League, in which he has finished as the top scorer three times. He was selected the FIFA World Player of the Year in 1994 and is catalogued as one of the greatest stars in the history of the game by FIFA.

Romário was named as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers as part of FIFA's 100th anniversary celebration in March 2004.

One thousandth goal
On May 20, 2007, Romário scored his 1000th goal, a penalty kick against Sport Recife, playing for Vasco da Gama. He claims he is the second player in professional football history to achieve this, after Pelé in 1969 (some also claim that Arthur Friedenreich and Franz Binder each scored 1000 goals, see Football top goalscorers). There is much controversy over the validity of the 1000 goals as Romario includes goals scored in youth, friendly and testimonial games. The 1000th goal drew much attention from both Brazilian and international press. On the milestone day, however, many in the international press stated the 1000th goal claim is somewhat inaccurate, because Romário counted his goals in junior, friendly and non-official games.

FIFA congratulated Romário on his milestone goal but stated he is still officially on 929 goals.

Andrea Bocelli

Andrea Bocelli (born 22 September 1958) is a renowned Italian singer. He is both an operatic tenor and a classical crossover singer. To date, he has recorded six complete operas — La Bohème, Il Trovatore, Werther, Pagliacci, Cavalleria Rusticana and Tosca — in addition to various classical and pop albums. He has sold 55 million albums worldwide.

Early career
Bocelli has been blind since the age of 12 as a result of a football accident and an eye condition known as glaucoma.

In 1992, the Italian rock star Zucchero first auditioned Bocelli while scouting for tenors to duet with him in the song "Miserere"; after hearing this recording, tenor Luciano Pavarotti urged Zucchero to use Bocelli instead of himself and said, "he is better than me, I can't do any better." The song was later recorded with Pavarotti, but Bocelli accompanied Zucchero on his European concert tour.

In 1994, Bocelli performed the winning entry "Il mare calmo della sera" at the Sanremo Festival, which led to his first gold record. That year, he also debuted as Macduff in Giuseppe Verdi's Macbeth, sang at Pavarotti's benefit concert in Modena, and performed for Pope John Paul II at Christmas.

In 1995, Bocelli's song "Con te partirò" placed fourth at the Sanremo Festival. It was included in his 1995 album Bocelli

International presence
In 1995, Andrea Bocelli had a performance during "Night of the Proms" - a famous yearly concert consisting of a combination of pop music and popular classical music (often combined) with various well-known and less known musicians in Antwerp, Belgium. As a consequence of this, "Con te partirò" became a huge hit in Belgium and stayed many weeks number one in the Belgian charts.

In 1996, he sang with the English soprano Sarah Brightman a duet version of "Con te partirò", entitled "Time to Say Goodbye", which broke sales records and stayed in the German top ten for nearly six months. He also appeared in Sesame Street singing a duet with Elmo. In subsequent years Bocelli performed in Paris, Bologna, Torre del Lago and Vatican City. He also topped the Spanish singles chart in 1996 with a duet with Marta Sanchez, Vivo Por Ella. He released further albums until entering the American market in 1998 with a concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. and a White House reception. Both that year and in 1999, Bocelli embarked on tours to North and South America and duets with Céline Dion, and performed the first Internet live opera broadcast in its entirety from the Detroit Opera House, with Denyce Graves.

In 2002, Bocelli repeated his America tour, winning two World Music Awards. Since then, he has continued his career with concert appearances throughout the world, including singing during the NBA's 2006 All-Star Weekend in Houston. He sang "Because We Believe" from his 2006 album Amore, during the Closing Ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics.
In 2006, Bocelli worked with the six finalists of American Idol to help them sing the week's themed songs, "classic love songs".
On July 1, 2007, Bocelli performed "Music of the Night" from Andrew Lloyd-Webber's Phantom of the Opera, during the Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium in London,England.
Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman's duet version of "Con Te Partirò" was used in the 2007 movie Blades of Glory starring Will Ferrell, as an ice skating song.
Akiyama Yoshihiro, K-1 mixed martial arts fighter uses "Con Te Partirò" as his ring entrance music.
On September 8, 2007, he sang Mozart's "Ave Verum Corpus" at the funeral of Luciano Pavarotti in Modena, Italy.

CM Punk(Phil Brooks)

Phil Brooks (born October 26, 1978) better known by his ring name CM Punk, is an American professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on its Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) brand where he is the reigning ECW Champion.

Punk initially came to prominence through his career on the professional wrestling independent circuit, primarily as a member of the Ring of Honor (ROH) roster where he was an ROH Tag Team Champion, ROH World Champion, and the first head trainer of the ROH wrestling school. Along with Samoa Joe and Homicide, he was considered to be one of the three icons of ROH. Punk later accepted a contract from WWE and spent a year in their developmental promotion Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) during which time he won every championship in the promotion. When the ECW brand was revived in 2006 Punk was brought into the brand's roster where he had several successes including being undefeated in singles competition for the six months after his debut and ultimately winning the ECW Championship in September 2007.

Consistently throughout his career Punk has used the gimmick of being straight edge. The straight edge gimmick is used irrelevant of alignment as a face or heel, however different aspects of the culture are emphasized in the different alignments to encourage the desired audience reaction.
Early career
Punk's first venture into wrestling was a stint in a backyard wrestling federation called the Lunatic Wrestling Federation with his friends in the mid-late 1990s. He first started using the ring name CM Punk when he was put into a tag team named the Chick Magnets with CM Venom after another performer skipped out on the card. Unlike his friends, Punk genuinely wanted to be a wrestler and saw it as more than simple fun. After leaving the federation, he enrolled as a student at the "Steel Domain" wrestling school in Chicago, where he was trained by Ace Steel, Danny Dominion and Kevin Quinn to become a professional wrestler. As part of the training, he wrestled at St. Paul's Steel Domain Wrestling. It was in the Steel Domain that he met Scott Colton, who soon adopted the stage name Colt Cabana. Punk and Cabana became best friends and spent most of their early career together working in the same independent promotions, as opponents or allies. In the independents Punk, along with fellow Steel Domain graduates Colt Cabana, Chuckie Smoothe, Adam Pearce and manager Dave Prazak, formed a stable named the Gold Bond Mafia. The Gold Bond Mafia (CM Punk, Colt Cabana and Chris Hero) wrestled The Black T-Shirt Squad (Mike Quackenbush, Reckless Youth and Don Montoya) in the main event of CHIKARA's debut show. The BTS won after Reckless pinned Cabana following a Northern Light's Bomb 2k4.

Punk's home promotion for his early career is usually considered to be Independent Wrestling Association: Mid-South (IWA:Mid-South). During Punk's time in IWA:Mid-South he had high profile feuds with Colt Cabana and Chris Hero while also rising to the top of the roster winning the IWA Mid-South Light-Heavyweight Championship twice and the IWA Mid-South Heavyweight Championship on five separate occasions. Notably his feud with Hero included a 55-minute TLC match, a 93-minute two out of three falls match and several 60-minute draws. Punk's matches with Cabana led him to being hired by Ring of Honor promotion. During his time in IWA:Mid-South he would also meet, wrestle against and become a friend of Eddie Guerrero. From February 2003 until May 2004 Punk refused to wrestle for IWA:Mid-South. Punk claims that this was in protest to Ian Rotten's treatment of Chris Hero; however Hero himself has stated he believes there were other reasons and Rotten's treatment of him was just an excuse by Punk to stop working for the company. Eventually Punk returned to IWA:Mid-South and continued to perform as a wrestler and commentator for them until 2005 when he was signed to World Wrestling Entertainment. His last appearance in IWA:Mid-South was on July 2, 2005 in which he competed in a sixty-minute time limit draw against Delirious.

John Depp(Pirates of the Caribbean)

John Christopher Depp II(born June 9, 1963) is an Academy Award-nominated American actor.
Depp was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, to John Christopher Depp Sr., a city engineer, and Betty Sue (Wells), a waitress. He has one brother, Danny, and two sisters, Christie (who was formerly Johnny's personal manager) and Debbie. Depp has German, Cherokee (from a great-grandmother), and Irish ancestry. The book Johnny Depp: A Kind of Illusion states that the Depp family originated with a French Huguenot Pierre Deppe or Dieppe who settled in Virginia around 1700. Depp has said he doesn't know the origin of his surname, but jokes that the name translates to "idiot" in German (it is actually a minor insult meaning fool or moron). The family moved frequently during Depp's childhood, and he and his siblings lived in more than twenty different locations, settling in Miramar, Florida, in 1970, when he was 7. In 1978, when Johnny was 15, his parents were divorced. Depp engaged in self-harm as a child, due to the stress of dealing with family problems and his own insecurity. He has seven or eight scars from practicing self-harm. In a 1993 interview, he explained his self-injury by saying, "My body is a journal in a way. It's like what sailors used to do, where every tattoo meant something, a specific time in your life when you make a mark on yourself, whether you do it yourself with a knife or with a professional tattoo artist". Depp married Lori Anne Allison, his makeup artist and sister of his band's drummer, on December 24, 1983. During Depp's marriage his wife worked as a makeup artist while he worked a variety of odd jobs, including a telemarketer for ink pens. Later, his wife introduced him to actor Nicolas Cage, who advised Depp to pursue an acting career. In 1985, Depp and Allison divorced.

Rock band
Depp's mother bought him a guitar when he was twelve, and he began playing in garage bands. His first band was in honor of his girlfriend Meredith. One year after his parents divorced, he dropped out of high school to become a rock musician. (As he explained once on Inside the Actors Studio, he attempted to go back two weeks later, but the principal told him to follow his dream of being a musician, which Depp said was "really sweet.") He played with a band named "The Kids" which enjoyed modest local success. The band members set out together for Los Angeles in pursuit of a record deal, changing their name to "Six Gun Method." Depp's marriage caused friction between the band members, and the group split before signing a record deal. Depp subsequently collaborated with the band Rock City Angels and co-wrote the song "Mary", which appeared on their debut for Geffen Records, "Young Man's Blues".

Television
Depp starred in a lead role on the FOX TV television series, 21 Jump Street, which premiered in 1987. Depp accepted this role because he wasn't getting much action in the business and he wanted to work with actor Frederic Forrest, who inspired him. Later in the season, Depp's long time friend Sal Jenco joined the cast as a semi-co-star as the janitor named Blowfish. The series' success turned Depp into a popular teen idol during the late 1980s. He found the teen-idol status an irritant, noting that he felt "forced into the role of product" and that it was "a very uncomfortable situation and I didn't get a handle on it and it wasn't on my terms at all." Depp promised himself that after his contract on the series expired, he would only appear in films that he felt were right for him.

Madonna

Madonna Louise Ciccone Ritchie, (born August 16, 1958), better known as Madonna, is an American dance-pop singer-songwriter, record and film producer, dancer, actress, author and fashion icon. She is noted for her ambitious music videos and stage performances as well as using political, sexual, and religious themes in her work.[1]

The Guinness World Records lists Madonna as the most successful female recording artist of all time.[2] She has sold an estimated 200 million albums[3] and 75 million singles worldwide.[4] Madonna is the highest earning female singer of all time according to both the 2007 Guinness Book of Records,[5] and Billboard Magazine. Forbes magazine has estimated her net worth at $325 million.[6] In addition, Madonna holds the record for the top-grossing concert tour by a female artist
Early life
Madonna Louise Ciccone was born in Bay City, Michigan. She was the third of eight children (her siblings are Martin, Anthony, Christopher, Paula, Melanie, Mario, and Jennifer)[8] born to Silvio "Tony" Ciccone, an Italian-American Chrysler engineer whose parents originated from Pacentro, and Madonna Louise Fortin, who was of Québécois descent.

She was raised in a Catholic family in the Detroit suburbs of Pontiac and Avon Township (now Rochester Hills). Madonna's mother died of breast cancer at age 30 on December 1, 1963. Her father later married the family housekeeper, Joan Gustafson, and they had two children together.
Madonna convinced her father to allow her to take ballet classes. Her ballet teacher, Christopher Flynn, exposed Madonna to gay discotheques. She attended Rochester Adams High School, where she was a straight-A student and a member of the cheerleading squad.
She left the University of Michigan at the end of her sophomore year in 1978 and moved to New York City to pursue a dance career. Madonna has said:

“ "When I came to New York it was the first time I'd ever taken a plane, the first time I'd ever gotten a taxi-cab, the first time for everything. And I came here with $35 in my pocket. It was the bravest thing I'd ever done."

She had little money and for some time lived in squalor, working low-paying jobs including a stint at Dunkin' Donuts. She also worked as a nude model. She studied with Martha Graham and Pearl Lang, and later performed with several modern dance companies, including Alvin Ailey and the Walter Nicks dancers.
While performing as a dancer for the French disco artist Patrick Hernandez on his 1979 world tour,[10] Madonna became involved with the musician Dan Gilroy, with whom she later formed her first rock band, the Breakfast Club. In it, she sang and played drums and guitar before forming the band Emmy in 1980 with drummer and former boyfriend Stephen Bray. She and Bray wrote and produced dance songs that brought her local attention in New York dance clubs. DJ and record producer Mark Kamins was impressed by her demo recordings, so he brought them to the attention of Sire Records founder Seymour Stein.

Village People

Village People is a concept disco group formed in the late 1970s. The group is as well known for its on-stage costumes as for its catchy tunes and suggestive lyrics. The members each dress as a police officer, an American Indian chief, a construction worker, a member of the military, a leatherman (biker), and a cowboy; after the release of "In the Navy", both Victor Willis and Alex Briley appeared temporarily as sailors.

Village People scored a number of disco and dance hits, including their trademark "Macho Man", "Go West", the classic club medley of "San Francisco (You've got me) / In Hollywood (Everybody is a star)", "In the Navy", "Can't Stop the Music", "Sex Over The Phone" and their biggest hit, "Y.M.C.A.".

Collectively, the Village People have sold 85 million albums and singles. The group also recorded new materials under the name "The Amazing Veepers".

Conan O´Brien

Conan Christopher O'Brien (born April 18, 1963) is an Emmy-winning American comedian, writer and television personality best known as host of NBC's late-night talk/variety show Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

Background
Conan was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts, to Ruthe Reardon, an attorney, and Thomas Francis O’Brien, M.D. He has 5 siblings: Neal O'Brien (b. 1960); Luke O'Brien (attorney, b. 1961); Kate O'Brien (teacher, b. 1965); Jane O'Brien (writer-producer, Futurama, b. 1967); and Justin O'Brien (businessman, b. 1972). His third cousin is Denis Leary.

O'Brien excelled at English; he served as managing editor of his school newspaper and interned for Rep. Barney Frank.

After graduating from the Brookline High School as valedictorian, O'Brien entered Harvard University and, in his three upper-class years, lived in Mather House. Throughout his college career, he was a writer for the Harvard Lampoon humor magazine. During his sophomore and junior years, O'Brien served as the Lampoon's president, making him only the second person ever to serve as president twice, and the first person to have done it in 85 years. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1985 with a B.A. in History and Literature.

While attending Harvard, O'Brien was roommates with Damon Krukowski, who later became drummer for the indie band Galaxie 500. O'Brien had previously bought himself a drumkit, but had only recently given up playing it and instead earned his talent in playing the acoustic guitar. He lent it to Krukowski, whom he knew would get more use out of it. O'Brien's drum kit can be heard on many of Galaxie 500's early recordings.

-Career
Television writer
O'Brien moved to Los Angeles after graduation to join the writing staff of HBO's Not Necessarily the News. He spent two years with that show, and performed regularly with improvisational groups like The Groundlings. He also acted in corporate infomercials to earn money during this period.

After Not Necessarily the News, O'Brien partnered with Harvard classmate Greg Daniels (who went on to be the executive producer of King of The Hill and The Office) as staff writers on the short-lived Wilton North Report for Fox Broadcasting. He also occasionally served as that show's live audience warm-up person. Wilton North, with former Letterman producer Barry Sand as executive producer, lasted only four weeks, and is noteworthy mostly as the show that bumped the Arsenio Hall-hosted Late Show off the air.[citation needed]

In January 1988, Saturday Night Live's executive producer Lorne Michaels hired O'Brien as a writer. During his 3 years on SNL he wrote such recurring sketches as "Mr. Short-Term Memory" and "The Girl Watchers," the latter of which was first performed by Tom Hanks and Jon Lovitz. O'Brien also wrote the sketch "Nude Beach", a sketch in which the word "penis" was said or sung at least 42 times.

While on a writers' strike from Saturday Night Live following the 1987-1988 season, O'Brien put on an improvisational comedy revue in Chicago with fellow SNL writers Bob Odenkirk and Robert Smigel called Happy Happy Good Show. While living in Chicago O'Brien briefly was roommates with Jeff Garlin and lived a few blocks away from Wrigley Field.[citation needed]

In 1989, O'Brien and his fellow SNL writers received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy or Variety Series.

O'Brien, like many SNL writers, occasionally appeared as an extra in sketches, including a role as a doorman in a sketch in which Tom Hanks was inducted into the SNL "Five Timers Club" for hosting his fifth episode. Years later, when Hanks was a guest on Late Night, O'Brien showed the clip and jokingly claimed their appearance together was the source of all of Hanks' subsequent success.

From 1991 to 1994, O'Brien was a writer and producer for The Simpsons, credited as writer or cowriter of four episodes Of all the episodes he wrote while writing for The Simpsons, he considers "Marge vs. the Monorail" to be his favorite. Years later, in his speech given at Class Day at Harvard in 2000, O'Brien credited The Simpsons with "saving" him, a reference to the career slump he was experiencing prior to his hiring for that show. As of 2004, Conan's office at The Simpsons was being used as storage.

Late Night
O'Brien closes out his audition on the set of the The Tonight Show with Jay Leno at NBC Burbank Studio 1On April 25, 1993, Lorne Michaels suggested O'Brien try out to be David Letterman's successor as host of Late Night with David Letterman, with Andy Richter signed on to be his sidekick. Conan auditioned on the set of The Tonight Show, where he interviewed Mimi Rogers and Jason Alexander. O'Brien resigned his position on The Simpsons, despite the fact that his contract had not expired.

Premiering on September 13, Late Night with Conan O'Brien received generally unfavorable critical reviews for the first 2 to 3 years after its debut. O'Brien himself, an almost total unknown among the general public before being named host, was seen by many as not being worthy of the program. NBC even poked fun at this perception in a radio ad which aired shortly before the show's debut and had Conan relaying an anecdote where someone recognized him on the street and said, "Look, honey, there's the guy who doesn't deserve his own show!" Another source of criticism was the fact that Conan himself appeared to be very nervous and awkward during the show's early days. As a self-deprecating nod to this, the original opening sequence for Late Night With Conan O'Brien was animated and featured a caricature of Conan who sweated and pulled at his collar nervously. O'Brien was a guest on The Howard Stern Show, where Stern and his crew mocked him by throwing a going-away party for him, brought on by newspaper reports that NBC was already looking for someone to replace O'Brien.

The show remained on multi-week renewal cycles while NBC decided its fate. By 1996-97, O'Brien's writing and comedic style was thought to have improved, and he began to develop a growing fan base, especially with high school and college students, as well as the respect of critics and his peers. O'Brien would later poke fun at the first three years of the show when on his 10th Anniversary Special, Mr. T appeared to give O'Brien a gold necklace with a giant "7" on it. When Conan tried to point out that he's actually been on the air for ten years, Mr. T responded, "I know that, fool...but you've only been funny for seven!"

Since then, O'Brien and the Late Night writing team have consistently been nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Writing in a Comedy or Variety Series, though they have not won as of 2006. In 1997, 2000, 2002, 2003, and 2004 he and the Late Night writing staff won the Writers Guild Award for Best Writing in a Comedy/Variety Series.
In 2001, he formed his own television production company, Conaco, which has since shared in the production credits for Late Night.
On the first episode after September 11th, O'Brien went out of character and told a story of how he went to pray for the first time in eight years, the previous time was after he was announced as the host of Late Night. O'Brien was noticeably shaken up, however he did not cry on the air. He talked about a need to have faith and even said "God Bless" at the end of the show.

After joking about this for several months (which led to the reoccurring segment "Conan O'Brien Hates My Homeland" and his highly advantageous endorsement of her campaign [including campaign ads he made on her behalf, many people think Conan helped Tarja considerably on her presidential campaign]), O'Brien traveled to Finland and appeared on several television shows, and met President Halonen. The trip was filmed and aired as a special.

Conan ad libbed the fictional website name "hornymanatee.com" on December 4, 2006, after a sketch about the fictional manatee mascot and its inappropriate web-cam site. NBC opted to purchase the website domain name for $159, since the website did not previously exist. The network was concerned that someone might register the domain name and post content with which NBC would not wish to be associated, or that people would get upset and sue NBC when they found out the website is fictional. NBC now owns the rights to www.hornymanatee.com for 10 years, as per Conan O'Brien. According to Conan, it was decided that, since NBC owned the name, they might as well create the website. Late Night has since developed an actual website, which now has received millions of hits, reaching 4 million page views in four days. People send in "horny manatee" artwork, poems, and other content. According to the Alexa website ranking system, Hornymanatee.com has had over 10 million web hits.

As of October 2006, Late Night with Conan O'Brien had for eleven years consistently attracted an audience averaging about 2.5 million viewers.

In 2006, Jay Leno named Conan as his replacement when he leaves the "Tonight Show" in 2009. Leno stated on the show that he had done this to avoid a repeat of the controversy and hard feelings that resulted when he was chosen by NBC to host the Tonight Show over David Letterman. According to speculation, NBC had asked Leno to do this so Conan, who was a vital asset to the network, wouldn't jump ship for a more lucrative offer. It was rumored that at the time of the announcement ABC was talking to Conan about possibly replacing Jimmy Kimmel.
